If you’re a jewelry buff who’s settling into a long winter’s nap, you’re undoubtedly dreaming about 2015 jewelry trends. According to designers in New York, Milan, and Paris who debuted their lines during the recent Fashion Week Spring 2015 (Sept 4 – Oct 1, 2014), you can look forward to bracelets and more bracelets – from bangles, to bold cuff, to feathers.
Up and down runways, clothing designers celebrated gingham, floral, fringe, and denim, and accessorized these with innovative ornamental jewelry. Let’s a look at some of the prominent 2015 jewelry themes for your jewelry dreaming pleasure:
Crystals, Jewels, and Gems Galore
Crystal embellishments were everywhere in many different permutations. Prada and Ralph Lauren included pendant crystal earrings with detailed settings that blurred the line between fine jewelry and costume jewelry. The gingham-clad collection of the late Oscar de la Renta featured earrings in pink, white, and black crystal set in gold. The legendary fashion designer dedicated his career to making women feel stylish and sophisticated—and his final collection is no exception.
Bracelets stole the show on the Chanel runway. Bangles featured brightly colored leather, catchy slogans and inspiring feminist messages: “Make Fashion Not War” and “Ladies First”. From a decidedly less political standpoint, Valentino included a mix and match set of gold rings, embellishing each with marine motifs such as seashells and sea urchins. And Dior arranged duo silver metallic hoop earrings for a subtle play on stacked jewelry.
Drawing from equestrian influences, these decorative metal jewelry pieces are truly classic and timeless. Hermès silver jewelry integrated elements of bridles, bits, and reins in its design. Gucci followed suit with its iconic horse bit in a silver bracelet complementing ‘70s inspired ensembles. (Read our post on Equestrian-inspired jewelry for more ideas this theme.)
Spring 2015 runway jewelry trends included an assortment of delicate pieces that drew from feminine inspirations. Saint Laurent highlighted dainty necklaces and heart pendants, in keeping with its decidedly feminine prints. Dolce & Gabbana adorned necklines in gold pendants and earrings while Versace featured chokers and medallions on fine chains.
Speaking of delicate and luxe, designers waft a breath of fresh and airy feathered jewelry pieces our way. Isabel Marant embraces the finer things with a plush feather bracelet, while Etro loosens a boho vibe with a talisman necklace akin to a dream catcher.
